James J. Sheehan, Sr., 87, of Manchester, NH died April 30, 2018, at the Elliot Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, MA, on July 20, 1930, he was the son of John and Margaret (O’Sullivan) Sheehan. He resided in Manchester most of his life.
James graduated from Mission Hill High School, Boston. He served with the United States Air force. Until his retirement, Jim was employed as a manager with Lockheed-Sanders for thirty-five years.
Devoted to his faith, he was a longtime and active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church where he served on the parish council.
Jim was a member of the American Legion Henry J. Sweeny Post. No. 2, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 146, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was a founding member of the Manchester St. Patrick’s Day Parade where he was selected to serve as grand marshal in 2006.
As a husband, father, and grandfather, he was humble, loving, and compassionate, with a heart that knew no boundaries. He will be remembered for his warm smile, selflessness, and gentlemanly ways. James will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and anybody who had the pleasure of knowing this remarkable man.
He was married sixty years to Mary (Moran) Sheehan. She died November 28, 2016. He was also predeceased by a brother, John Sheehan as well as a sister, Mary Crehan.
Family members include three sons, James J. Sheehan, Jr. of Andover, MA, Daniel R. Sheehan of Barrington, and John V. Sheehan of Kennebunk, ME; two daughters, Catherine M. Pomeroy of Windham and Patricia S. Hadad of Salem; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim Will be missed dearly by all of his Hibernian brothers.
