The Manchester St. Patrick’s Parade Committee has come to the difficult decision that, due to the information provided by the CDC regarding COVID-19, the Manchester St. Patrick’s Parade, scheduled for March 28, 2021 will be canceled.
It is with great sadness that we share the news that we will not be able to hold the St. Patrick’s Parade in 2021. We held out hope as long as we could, but continuing uncertainty about the pandemic has made it impossible to guarantee the safety of parade participants and audience in March.
We deeply appreciate the community’s support, especially of our charity, Families In Transition/New Horizons, which has provided meals to families and first responders regularly throughout the pandemic. We understand that this is disappointing news for many people. We, the committee, love the parade dearly, are saddened not to be able to celebrate this year, but look to the future with hope.
If you would like to help us and help our charity, please consider making a donation directly to Families in Transition at https://support.fitnh.org/campaign/fundraiser-for-fit-nh/c292862. Although the parade itself has been canceled, we are working to raise funds to help the people who are food insecure in our community.
We look forward to providing Manchester and its surrounding communities with an exceptional Parade in 2022 when, hopefully, we are all healthy and we can guarantee you stay that way following the Parade.
What should I do to prepare/respond as an individual?
Practicing a few common-sense public health steps can help stop the spread of COVID-19.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a 60% or greater alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Clean and disinfect frequently used objects and surfaces at home and in the workplace.
- Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Temporarily replace the handshake, hugs, and physical contact with a friendly wave.
